Pegasus was the winged horse of Ancient Greek mythology. Pegasus sprang from the blood of the neck of the tragically cursed Gorgon sister Medusa, when she was beheaded by the Greek hero Perseus. Medusa was thus freed from the many curses on her, and Perseus was able to continue on his way, and rescue his beautiful maiden, Andromeda.
